Coffee is entering one of the wildest harvest years we’ve ever seen. Prices? Sky-high. Tariffs? Changing every week. Weather? Let’s just say… unpredictable is the new normal.
If you’re in the coffee world right now, you probably wake up every morning checking coffee prices like crypto charts. It’s madness. Exciting, but madness.
At Galeano Coffee, we’re not panicking (well, maybe a little). We’re just doubling down on what we do best: sourcing the best beans on Earth and roasting them with proud Latin hands in the U.S. Because when things go crazy, passion and purpose are what keep you grounded — that, and caffeine.
The Price Picture (and Why Everyone’s Freaking Out)
Arabica prices are through the roof. The ICO composite hit 297¢/lb in August, and by October 28, it was around 385¢/lb — up 55% year over year.
Yes, you read that right. Fifty-five percent. Coffee has officially joined the “luxury goods” club.
Why? Smaller harvests in Brazil, unpredictable weather, low stocks, and new tariffs that could make your morning latte a little more “exclusive.”
Tariffs, Drama, and Diplomatic Plot Twists
Brazil → U.S.: In mid-2025, the U.S. dropped a 50% tariff on Brazilian imports (yes, including green coffee). Cue the price panic.
Colombia → U.S.: By late October, Colombia recalled its ambassador after tariff threats and rising political tension. The plot thickens. If this were Netflix, we’d call it “The Roast Wars.”
The Good, the Bad, and the Caffeinated
The Good:
If Brazil stays under pressure, other Latin origins — Colombia, Central America, Peru, Mexico — could see a golden opportunity to shine. It’s time for Latin coffee to step into the spotlight.
The NotSoGood:
If tariffs expand, import costs rise everywhere. Roasters cry, drink more espresso, and start questioning their life choices. Add currency swings and logistics chaos — and that’s 2025 in a nutshell.
What We Expect This Season
-
High prices, wild swings. One day it’s up, the next it’s “don’t check the charts.” just like las weekend.
-
More origin diversity. Expect buyers to explore new Latin coffees — hello Honduras, Peru, and El Salvador.
-
Quality still wins. The real ones still choose flavor, story, and authenticity over hype.
Our Promise at Galeano Coffee
We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done — focusing on quality, transparency, and pride. We’ll bring you standout coffees, tell you what’s really happening behind the beans, and do it all with Latin warmth and honesty.
This year, Nelson and I will be traveling across origins — cupping, roasting, and talking to the people who make coffee magic happen: farmers, roasters, baristas, café owners, maybe even that one guy who still thinks instant coffee counts (we’ll try to convert him).
We’re living the coffee madness (locura), and we want you to live it with us.
Because no matter how wild the market gets — the love for our cafecito never crashes.
